Platform for People with Disabilities: a flagship initiative of the Disability Rights Strategy
The Platform for People with Disabilities is one of the flagship initiatives of the Disability Rights Strategy. Following its adoption by the European Commission on 27 October, all EU Member States nominated their representatives. Fourteen civil society organizations active in the field of people with disabilities have already been selected through an open call for applications. The Platform for People with Disabilities replaces the existing high-level group for people with disabilities. This is an expert group in support of the implementation of the Strategy on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
Forum for exchange and joint work
The launch of the Platform is the beginning of a process for discussing the development of relevant policies, exchanging experiences and good practices and reflecting the diversity of disabilities.
The platform also provides a forum for engaging and working together to prepare policy initiatives or legislative proposals in the field of disability and to establish cooperation and coordination between the Commission and Member States and stakeholders.
All members of the Platform for People with Disabilities can be found in the register. The first meeting will be held on Wednesday, December 15, 2021.
