According to the latest data in our country, 9.5% of the population is aged 65 and over, that is, our country is now in the class of countries with an elderly population. The decrease in birth rates and the effective use of technological developments in health services, conscious nutrition and active life have allowed the average life expectancy to be prolonged and the share of the elderly population in the total population to increase. However, the aging period brings with it many problems. The socioeconomic burden on the country and the world is increasing due to the aging of the society, especially the increased dependency rates in this group. The diseases, functional inadequacies and low participation in the workforce of this group have become a threat to the social security systems of even countries with very strong economies. For this reason, it is our primary duty as individuals, institutions and the state to ensure that our elderly people participate actively in social life, have social, cultural and economic rights and live without being dependent on anyone.

Elders also need love and respect. The elderly, who do not receive enough attention from their environment, lose their joy and resent life. In parallel with the increase in the elderly population, 1 October is celebrated and celebrated as World Elderly Day all over the world in order to raise awareness on these issues such as old age and elderly health.
